Core experience
- Designed and shipped AI-powered features for Oxford English Dictionary: an AI quotation finder and research assistant, now in production.
- Redesigned the AI assistant's interaction model around real system latency, embedding it in the page rather than a modal so researchers could continue working while queries ran.
- Design to WCAG AA as standard, from colour and interaction patterns through to how designs translate into accessible front-end code.
- Led UX discovery and analysis, presented solutions to stakeholders, and defined research tasks for the research team; built HTML and Figma prototypes.
- Partnered with an external research agency, translating user-testing findings into design and flow changes; took one product from early stage to finished prototype.
- Led the redesign of Oxford Learning Link, reducing the getting-access flow from eight screens to three.
- Designed and usability-tested the NHS COVID-19 QCovid risk calculator to GDS standards in a regulated context.
- Turned a client concept into an AI-powered medical-product MVP, running a six-hour stakeholder workshop through to a clickable prototype handed over for clinical validation and development.
- Ran a WCAG 2.1 AA and GDS-referenced accessibility and UX review of local-authority client portals, including personas for the Online Financial Assessment service, and delivered recommendations on headings, calls to action, contrast and interactive-card affordance.
- Designed and researched a case-management system for West Essex County Council through dozens of in-depth interviews with frontline social-care workers, plus admin dashboards for volunteer matching and coordination.
- Redesigned core flows of PEMS, a long-running student-placement-management SaaS platform, within existing backend constraints, based on four interviews and user shadowing, and laid the foundation for a reusable design system.
Founding and startup projects
- Co-founded and led product and design for a web app offering developmental screening and personalised activity plans for children aged 2 to 7; took it from concept to a funded UK pilot with 20 families and secured early friends and family investment.
- Rebuilt the product around parent confidence and support after pilot research showed that the barrier was acting on guidance, not lacking it.
- Ran paid acquisition for the pilot, A/B-testing landing-page variants and calls to action to understand what converted.
- Designed and launched Auto Apply, the only product feature released during my contract, while owning the live marketing and onboarding funnel and designing the wider dashboard.
- Built and led design for a multilingual mental-health platform from 0 to launch, supporting a community of 20,000+ members.
- Built the design system and UI kits that other designers and external developers worked from, across six products; led a remote team of two freelance designers through design reviews and onboarding.
- Lead brand, website, and digital and print materials for three London conferences; built the digital team's workflow and systems.
- Led UI/UX for the web portal and online shop, alongside brand and design projects for partners.
